The Sunshine Fix is the recording project of Bill Doss. He began using this moniker back when he was
still in high school, long before joining The Olivia Tremor Control.
There was a self-released cassette on Elephant 6 entitled A Spiraling World of Pop. Some of these songs
would later reincarnate on The Olivia Tremor Control albums.
In November 1999 a 7"single was released containing tracks Beaconary Word and Last
Night I Had A Dream.
In August 2000, Kindercore released an EP called The Future History Of A Sunshine Fix.
Bill himself played most of the instruments, but there were also contributions from John, Will, Peter and Eric
(all members of The Olivia Tremor Control
and The Black Swan Network), Scott Spillane and Jeremy Barnes
(The Gerbils and Neutral Milk
Hotel), Derek Almstead (Of Montreal) and
John D'Azzo (The Gerbils).
Also in August 2000, there were 2 tracks released on a couple compilation CDs. Currency Exchange Communion
appeared on U.S. Pop Life, Volume 5 - Athens: The Invention to be Nobody & Nowhere and the song
Ordinary Extraordinary appeared on the Kindercore Fifty CD.
In the summer of 2001, a more permanent band line-up was assembled with Kevin Sweeney on guitar and
Sam Mixon on bass. A single for That Ole Sun was released in December 2001.
A full-length album, entitled The Age of the Sun, was released in January 2002 on Emperor Norton. Some of
the contributors were Derek Almstead & Jamey Huggins (both of the band Of Montreal) and
Neil Cleary (Essex Green).
Their second record, Green Imagination was released on SpinArt in August 2004.
